Realtor vs Realtor Reality TV Show Shut Down

Realtor vs Realtor Reality TV Show Shut Down

The Canadian Real Estate Association (CREA) has been successful in having this real estate reality TV series pulled from the air.

CREA took issue with the unauthorized use of its Realtor trademark in the series' title and threatened legal action if the program continued to broadcast.

HGTV removed Realtor vs Realtor from its time slot as well from its website, after only a few of the 13 planned episodes aired. HGTV and its parent company are now negotiating a settlement.

HGTV had promoted the the program as "the ultimate real estate challenge show, where two top notch real estate agents face-off to find desperate home buyers the house of their dreams.

CREA was unhappy with the way ads for the series were visually portraying Realtors as battered combatants, complete with blackened eyes and boxing gloves.

I saw one episode and found it to be unprofessional of the two Realtors depicted, how incompetent one was and lazy! Two of my clients at the time made comments that were quite disapproving of their behavior and my first instinct was to protect the validity and professionalism of most people in real estate.

Competition is good, I know that we have some bad apples as in all industries do and I for one am glad the series was pulled!
